He Knows Us

June 2, 2008

“Psalm 139:1-5 — O LORD, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; …You search out my path and my lying down and are aquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, O LORD, you know it altogether. YOU HEM ME IN, BEHIND AND BEFORE…”

These are the words that have been flowing through my mind and heart this past week. Mostly because Steve and I have been so overwhelmed with the encouraging words we have received from friends and family as we have been announcing our adoption. Words as simple as congratulations, or just hugs have encouraged us greatly.

People have been congratulating us through email, phone calls, messaging us on facebook and through this blog. It is as if God has given perfect scripts to people to share with us at just the perfect time. Oftentimes when our own insecurities and fears begin to surface, we are met with words from someone like “we are so excited to meet YOUR baby” or “we are praying…and I have my Bible study praying.”

We told the high school students last night in a big group setting and they literally began to cheer. It still brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. We are overwhelmed with love…and I believe that God knows us so well, that He knows just the words we need to hear and they are oftentimes are communicated through you. So, thank you…you are being used by Him whether you know it or not!!

Here are some updates:

  • we passed the fire inspection! yay!
  • we met with our adoption assessor last Wednesday. It was a 3 hour conversation about everything you could possibly imagine. It was intense, but really good. We really enjoyed the lady assigned to us. She is coming back tomorrow (Tuesday evening at 6:30) to interview us again 🙂 This time about parenting and she is going to give our house a safety audit.

Some ways you can pray this week:

  • It is crazy to think that it is possible that our baby is either in the womb of a wonderful woman right now, or perhaps already born. We are praying for protection over our little baby – especially while he/she is in the womb….that the mother would make good health decisions, that she would somehow feel peace that our (hers/ours) we be ok – loved, protected. That has been our prayer this week.
  • And as always, prayer that God will provide financially through people. We believe He can do it!

Until next week! Steve and Kate 🙂
